Snowflakes (4th grade)

By Tamara and Sanida

All snowflakes have six sides. They all also have a different type of plate. The most common plates are thin plates and sector plates. A plate is partially-formed dendrite. A dendrite is a crystal with a branching treelike structure. The most important type of snowflake is the dendrite snowflake. All snowflakes include ice crystals, atoms, protons, oxygen, and hydrogen.
